  • Important Message!!!

The image file limits have been reset. We have over-limit warnings for the past 3 months and I've had to lower the image file limits. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I know I've mentioned many times before, but it is very important to downsize images - doesn't matter if they are hosted elsewhere or here. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The new limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

    Thank you for your understanding.

WILCO, sorry this is the first time I knew of this. I know my images are huge.
Due to the recent budget cuts,
the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, plus the
current state of the economy, the light at the end
of the tunnel has been turned off.

Except for trailer truck images that are bigger than usual (Bert Beholds Big Rigs), Bert's images are usually 720x480. The file size is just over 100Kb. Do I need to reload all of those images with higher compression to get them to < 100Kb?

Or is this a "from now on" message? I don't recall reading about a 100Kb limit when this site began.

      Bert sez...

Your (and Bert's) images so far are fine, and yes this is new. We've been getting monthly messages that we were a wee bit over our usage limit, but this past month was like half again, and I was told in no uncertain terms that if we continue over I will need to pay for the next level up, which is about double what I'm paying now. In short, we all need to cut back overall, or I may have to close down if we can't figure out another solution. We're working on it, but for now I ask that folks in general keep the image size down. Doesn't matter if hosted here or a photo host, and doesn't matter what size it appears here....I've gone back to look at a few images over the months and seen monsters, and frankly as mentioned I looked in the control panel and found images that were 50 times what they needed to be....that means one image took the space of 50. 100Kb is a target, a bit over is OK. 5,000Kb is not OK. I will also likely be going through and deleting oversize images, I have no choice if the members want a place to play.

I'm trying to understand so each picture should be 100kb. How much more money if I may ask to go to the next size? Or what is the dues if you paid a month and how many members do you need to pay to make it right for oversize pictures.

How does the size match up? I have an editing system that says save for web. I was wondering is this any better.

The second one is larger as far as the sizes you offer but is so supposed to the same KB.

I'm going to do another photoshoot or showcase and give you the link and tell me if it's satisfactory, please?///////////////////////////////////

Daniel, to me the pics are same size but that's because i'm browsing with phone.
Smaller pic means less kB and less KB means less bandwidth used.
The site resizes pics that are over the limits that Wes has set but the pics are still the same KB or MB as it was before.

This is the smallest I can go without using the save for web which you needed a telescope to see it for laughing out loud. I'm trying to make these pictures right. I know I'm the one with the Gigantic pictures.
