Of all the Auto World Ford Galaxies, this red one is my favorite. They all are great models, but this red one always stood out to me!!!
It is a beauty. I had two uncles that one, on dad's side had a 63 Galaxie 427, that I was able to make a replica of from a JL casting, and another uncle, on mom's side that had just bought a red 64 Chevy Impala with a 409, before he was shipped to Vietnam where he lost his life. He made me a small model of it from a Lesney Matchbox 64 Chevy Taxi, I think I posted awhile back.
Before he left there was much big heated and funny talk who was going to blow who's doors off when uncle Danny returned. They clowned around and made funny comments about each other's car and why theirs was better and faster. Real comics that made us laugh till we cried at a few family gatherings. It was quite an exciting wait, but he never returned alive. Pretty sad, but many, many years ago. The fond memories still remain though.
For some reason when AW released this one and I found it on the pegs, that fond and funny part of the memory popped into my head.
I cut a couple of tiny spacers for the front axle to get a better stance and extend the front wheels so they did not set so far back in the wheel wells...I really like this Big Bad Red Ford Galaxie 427..
