  • Your most expensive car

Given the numbers of recent posts regarding the white Camaro, I thought it timely to show our very own super expensive HW models.
For me, it's probably this one, although it's not mint. It actually cost me nothing as it was a gift from my father.

Not much for me in valuable HWs, now Matchbox I did once have a very rare one, but sold it during the hard times of the recession.
I do have an unplayed with Redline Grasshopper that is US made, and just the other day I was looking for it, but no idea what box I have it in, got it for $1 at a train show years ago.
Here is a photo borrowed from the web, same one with roof and same color as mine.

That one is priceless! A gift from a parent or child always makes them that much more special in our collection.

Followed close behind by the first copy of the Swifferstang. The more recent second copy was slightly more reasonable.
The image file limits have been reset. We have over-limit warnings for the past 3 months and I've had to lower the image file limits. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I know I've mentioned many times before, but it is very important to downsize images - doesn't matter if they are hosted elsewhere or here. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The new limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

              Thank you for your understanding.

                Is that a Hot Wheels?

Oooops, it is not. Mea Culpa.

In that case, my most expensive Hot Wheel was a redline Hot Heap I traded Paul Biddle 48 regular mainline issues for. I don't have a pic just now.

I think the most I've paid for a HW would be a chrome Mustang Stocker. $12.

Matchbox cars on the other hand..........

My most expensive car I have in my hotwheels collection is a blackwall odd rod in mint condition that I got as a gift for Christmas. 👍

If we're talking about Most Valuable Hot Wheel, then for now mine would be this.

RLC Gulf 67 Camaro. Right now they are going for $250 +

I have some pretty nice Redlines that may be worth more. I don't really think so though

I was offered $300 for this Z Whiz but declined. So that, and total consciousness on my death bed from the Dalai Lama, I have that going for me....

I think the most I have spent for a HW would be waaaay back when the first set of multi-piece premiums came out. It is the 4 car Barris (?) Customs set with Cadzilla, Ala Kart, Hirohito Mercury, & the other custom Merc that was mail-in only for I wanna say $100.
As for current value, I’m not quite sure. I’m guessing either a hot pink (looks pearl) 69 AMX redline from my childhood or a mint Brite Blue Metallic w/white stripes 67 Camaro w/gray RRs that was a replacement mail-in offer when they ran out of whatever the original was. I was not disappointed.

I wish I could play, but, alas, the most I've probably ever paid for a Hot Wheels model in 25+ years of collecting is maybe $12 for a mint Maxi Taxi.

It helps that I never got caught up in redline fever. I was a Matchbox/Playart kid, so I never got pulled into redlines during adult collecting.

The most money I ever paid for a single model is $48 for a Pre-Pro Matchbox Chevy Pro Stocker. I bought it many (20?) years ago during a Matchbox USA live auction.

I love it and would never want to sell it, even though the last one I saw on oFas sold for over $350.

I suppose my most valuable one is probably my Vintage Racing 510, but I got that at retail years ago. The most I have spent on a single Hot Wheels is probably in the $40-50 range for one of my handful of Redlines, but I'm not sure how much I spent on each. I have a couple of 1/43 Ferraris that might have been that expensive too.
