All of a sudden, I am getting the message that the photos I am posting are too large. I know there are size limits but the problem I am having is with photos that I have already posted here and now as I try to repost them in a different thread, I get the too larger message. It really doesn't make sense to me since they were fire the first time, I posted them. I use IMGUR if that helps.

Can't say I have run into the same issue as you (I also use imgur) but the website does allow for different sizes - original, large thumbnail, etc. - my suggestion would be to try a different size and see if the same error comes up. It is odd that the first time you posted the photos the error didn't show.

It is either that, or cough up more than double what I currently pay to host this site. The image file limits have been reset. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)
Thank you for your understanding.

So even if the file was accepted way back when, the site now will not accept them if they are too large. I know a lot of folks love having high definition images...they are not necessary here and the site will refuse them.

I couldn't even tell you what size my images are on my computer, some of what I post are in my Imgur albums, and typically when I load them to Imgur I set Imgur to save them at 800 x 600, sometimes the next size option larger if it is a tall skinny shot like a blister card, but when I upload them here from my computer I have no idea how large they are saved on the site, but never pick the full size option for the post, usually large or medium, and the only way I know the file was probably too big is when on rare occasion the photo only shows the small size even when I picked large, and wont get any larger when I click on it in the post.Doug

Images hosted at places like Photobucket or Imgur are different. That host "eats" the bandwidth...but it is a tradeoff. What if, like PB, they put a big ol' watermark across the image? Or if, certainly don't wish for, that site changes? The image files could be lost forever. In fairness, same is true of this site...something could happen to our host and a lot would be lost. To the subject at hand, as long as the image host is working as it should, that host "eats" the bandwidth, but this site will resize anyway.
I'm sure that's clear as mud.The image file limits have been reset. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000.
