M2 seems to be a maker collectors either love or hate. Frankly, I love them (at least the oldies), and find myself picking up pretty much all that cross my path. Unlike most other makers by far, M2 are more like mini model kits composed of as many as 40 or more pieces...and with such a complicated assembly process, unfortunately a disproportionate share escape the factory in less than optimal condition. This is an unfortunate byproduct of the detail and craftsmanship at the price point, though many of the assembly defects can be adjusted by a talented model builder. It is these not wholly unwarranted concerns that tend to put some collectors off of the brand. I find the tradeoffs worth the risk precisely because of the level of detail at the price.
M2 is perhaps the first in my knowledge to cover any mid-50s GM models outside of Chevrolet, certainly since the cars were new on the road (perhaps 1950s Tootsietoy or similar slush maker?). The tri-5 GMs (1955-57), especially Buick, Olds and Pontiac, are some very old friends of mine. So when M2 introduced the '55 Poncho, I was hooked and have been ever since.
