  • Mada, or Jadorette?

Someone posted some finds at Ollies, last week I think. I happened to go by my local Ollies about the same time and found some playsets, but only two different models were available

Initially I grabbed the Police Mustang

I noticed the bottom of the box had both Jada and Majorette. I presume the casting is known as Majorette, and now being sold branded as Jada.

At $15 for the playset, they are not cheap, but of the six models listed on the back, only two were in the assortment at my store.

I was really back and forth over which one to get, so I went back a few days later (payday) and picked up the Chevy Silverado pickup

I also noticed these are marked "Only at Target." I don't know the story behind these, if they ever made it to Target.
The image file limits have been reset. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

    Thank you for your understanding.

When I picked up the Chevy, I found another Mustang buried in the back, I left two Chevys and the one Mustang. Whether they are still there I would only know if I go back.

Getting them if they are still there and shipping to Europe isn't a problem, but I do not have paypal so getting payment might be challenging.

I remember the vehicles only at Target about a year or two ago (long since cleared out).

These play sets and vehicles were released in 2020 and were Target exclusives. The models are Majorette and stamped so on the base, with Jada tampoed on as well. I want to say the play sets were like $20 or so new. I picked one of my sons up the fire station at the time.

There was. Second wave of six models released about the start of 2021 that never saw wide spread distribution. The second wave had 2 each of a ladder truck, Dodge Charger and Chevy Camaro, later I’ll try to post a picture of the series.

I always felt these failed at Target for two main reasons:
-They put these play sets and vehicles near the Thomas the Train, Disney Cars and other pre-school toys, and placing them with the Hotwheels and Matchbox would have been a better location to hit the target audience. I know at first I thought my Target didn’t get them until I saw a post on this site that stated the location.

-With the Covid shut down, foot traffic to stores was reduced, and I suspect in many cases a parent was more likely to go to the store and leave their kids home with the other parent reducing the browsing time in the Toy department if any at all.

since they where in the little kids toy section i would have walked right past them.

Yes, those were the sets available at my local Ollie's as well. The singles I found were not hanging near the sets. Looking at the vehicles on the set box, it looks like they may have been part of the first wave, with the VW Crafter ambulances. Those I did pick up at Target back in '21 or even '20 (fuzzy memories are the norm now). I don't think they sold well at Target, so Ollie's ended up getting the remainder. Target not hanging them with the rest of the diecast was part of the problem, although I still swing down that aisle "just in case" on my now monthly trips to Target. I get lucky every now and then, but not often enough to make me go more frequently.

P.S. I'd vote for Jadorette, or suggest Majorada!

Can't wait to see the photos of the second set. It never showed up around here as far as I can tell. I got the first set and several complimentary singles; the "ladder truck" is what I'm most interested in seeing from the second set. If it turns out it's just one of the "toy" ladders that came out singly, I guess I have it covered, as I got one of each color (if there were only the red and the green ones....) Sadly the lights are burned out on all of them; the sirens still work, but the lights are out.

I have two Mustang police cars, two Silverado police trucks, two fire Silverados (one with the fire station set), and 2 VW Crafter ambulances (white and red versions). Were there MORE of this series actually released?

Here is a shot of Wave 2, which came out late 2020 or early 2021.

The Fire Rigs, look like the cabs are inspired by the American LaFrance Eagle, the Cameros seem a bit chunky to me. The blue Charger has a New York State Police look about it.

Here is the Fire Station set of my sons.

Yep, I bought the fire engines online from another 'collector'....still never saw any of the newer series in the two local Targets. Some Targets don't get the same stuff as other Targets. I'd say their sights need adjusting....but I'm not in marketing so....

So Ollie's picked up nearly 1000 truckloads of Target merchandise, across all departments. They'll have more than toys, but honestly, do we need anything else?
