  • NEW 1:64 Cop Car Cross Country Tour

Now's as good a time as any to revive the oid LE vehicle cross country thread...
As some of you may remember, I have a fairly extensive die cast collection, and several large diorama layouts to display them on.

As an American police officer, a lot of my collection, and most of the dio creations are emergency vehicle related.

I got with matchbox, of course, and then progressed to SpecCast in the early years. I've been keeping up with the HP pursuit series from GL, and i've found some good sources for the newer, as well as classic, Racing Champions and some Johnny Lightning. I've also been lucky enough to find an oddball here and there.

Anyway, enough exposition; back to the show.

The same year this pickup hit the highway, the first 27 female cadets graduated from the CHP academy.

CHiP's debuts in 1977, and things will never be the same...

I haven't been able to find one, and have recently acquired a whole fleet of RC emergency vehicles. I would like to know which ones are worth hunting for...

Neat to see you restart this wonderful cop car thread. I should be able to provide you with a fairly complete list of the Police USA and Fire & Rescue USA releases.

You reminded me I once ran across a website who had a complete or near complete list of most of the old RC Mint Series including Police and Fire Series, I'm sure I saved the link then, but alas, that would have been on my old laptop which no longer works, It seems I had a lot of great links and catalogs saved on that old thing I miss having now.

Good luck in your search for a list, if you find one please post it here maybe the apparatus bay for all of us..Thanks

Sounds like Pjedsel is on the case! THANKS... i missed out on these back then, but i came across a few here and there, and then did some digging and found some very reasonable listings on "Not particularly Evil if you do your homework bay". I think i've got about 60 or so, so far:

Here's another new to me- that i picked up. i've got about 30 on the workbench right now, but they've been competing with a big batch of code 3 models...

Harwood Heights Police 1956 Ford Victoria

Keeping in tune with the modern motto of a small town with big opportunities, the HHPD had big police cars, even back then.

So many forums and databases have disappeared in recent years - there had been a nice one with all of the Racing Champions, Spec Cast and others...and it is gone. I am in the process of creating a new one that when completed I will post in the Racing Champions database for all to make use of. Hopefully will be done in the next week or so.
I liked seeing the Harwood Heights car - one of those obscure police departments that RC used in the line-up. It is an interesting color for a police car but certainly would stand out in the sea of other cars.

Yeah- i would have thought it wouldn't be so hard to solve the RC Police USA/ Fire-Rescue USA mystery, but apparently it's quite a whodunnit. I thought i had most of the ones i wanted, but then i saw a few pjedsel posted and now i've added those to the list... i also wonder why some of the FR models came out in the Police line, and then in 1999? they did the police and fire series?

Looking forward to a list that I can work with-- so Thanks for the effort, in advance.

Here's another RC in kind of and oddball color scheme- at least for a police car:
                      Philadelphia Police Pontiac GTO
I imagine response time wasn't much of an issue behind the wheel of this goat.

The Philly police Scarlet Streak lasted for 43 years.

                      1:64 Racing Champions:

                      Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
                      1999 Police USA Series #76

Modern policing in the City of Brotherly Love:
                      Bad Night in Philly

Looks like this Mercedes-Benz ML 430 is a long way from home, and who knows what happened to it or how it wound up blocking a bay door at a local warehouse.

THANKS- Here's another unique color scheme for a police car, also from PA:

                          Bad Day in Ridley Township
What starts out as a simple stop for an unsecured load goes from bad to worse when the Ridley Police discover this drivers license is suspended, there is no insurance for the vehicle, and he's wanted for failure to appear in court, violation of probation, as well as not paying $64,320.58 in child support.

                          1:64 Greenlight Dodge Charger
                          Ridley Township Police
                          Ridley Twp. Pennsylvania

2008 Ridley Township PA Police Charger

                          Ridley Township Police Ramcharger
This old relic might bring back some memories, back in the days when SUV's were called trucks... believe it or not, they did have 911 back then.

I never bothered to do any research on this vehicle before, and I could only find some pix of a 1991 Ridley Twp. Ramcharger, so I don't know if this model was based on a real vehicle or not.

It still had a 7- digit number on the side, and it was taken out of service in 1998
                          So, the plot thickens...

1:64 Greenlight "County" Roads Series 3
                          1978 Dodge Ramcharger
                          Ridley Twp. Police

since everyone around here has got a friend in Pennsylvania- why not stick around for a bit?
