  • Rolls-Royce (mostly Matchbox)

Mostly Matchbox (two Hot Wheels and one Playart). Silver Shadow (sedan, coupe, cabriolet), Phantom V, Silver Spur, Silver Shadow II, Silver Cloud. Condition varies from "mint" to "catastrophically enjoyed." Acquiring scruffy examples is a more recent thing. One that stands out (in a positive way) is the "transitional" 24-C - w/ metal grille and Superfast wheels. Note: the original (kid years) 24-C Silver Shadow and 44-B Phantom V are not shown as they live deep within the nucleus of The Closeum.

Bulgarian release is cool. Have also seen some unusual base-plate color variations on eBay.

Thank you. Lately, it seems like at least one follows me home after each show.

While I think all the Matchbox RRs are neat, my favorite is the Corniche Convertible, it's the one I remember from childhood playtime, and even still have. My original is gold, but now have a blue, and another gold, I think it might be the different interiors like Jeff shows. And yes, even RR owners liked to go camping in the miniature world of a boys imagination.

Nice combo. I don't have that camper trailer. Only have the pink regular wheels trailer.

And here I feel guilty picking up more than one model. WOW! Nice collection, though. Congratulations!

Matchbox Rolls-Royce gives me that 100% secure feeling in both summer and winter. Have zero № 44 Silver Clouds, but hope to rectify that some day.

These Rolls Royce variants (see annotated photo) were quite random and unexpected - more like an accident simply due to buying multiple copies of the same model. I was pleased to discover the yellow-gold Corniche convertible color variations. I usually don't remember in detail what I already have, so just got lucky there. Most variations shown here were either discovered as they were placed into storage, added to the database, or by examining a photo, etc. In fact, I just noticed the Silver Spirit interior color variation while viewing this photo (mental note: update database). These differences may be more common with vintage models because of less stringent production methods than today. Who Knows?
