  • Battle of the Big Coupes- Mark V vs Eldo 2022 R1

I finally found this pair this morning looking good in Midnight Jade (a very dark green Lincoln) and Tarragon Gold Poly (Eldorado). This is my third Mark V - I haven't been able to get the hood open on any of them.

I received the same Lincoln today from a long standing pre-order from Diecast Direct. It's about a dark of green as you can get w/out being black. The Caddy looks pretty stellar. The Lincoln as noted in previous posts has several things wrong from the lack of filler behind the front bumper, side window wrong size and the grill looks proportionally wrong. IT's not perfect but other than the wonky older '78 T-Bird from Motormax this is the only representation of Fords big 2 door coupes of the late 70s in small scale.

I took the Lincoln outside so you can see the color better- definitely green in the light.

in the 70s when that Continental was out you could of ordered it with side exhaust pipes that went from the engine clear to the rear
        TRUTH!

I was more fond of the Bill Blass edition, especially back in that time period.
The image file limits have been reset. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

          Thank you for your understanding.

Same here! Hoping they tool up a non opera windowed roof for the BB edition.

John, try using a very small flat blade screwdriver as found in those "mini" tool kits to start the hood prying. If it feels like there is no "give." then slam the hood shut and be happy that you have the car.

I did a Google search for the Mark V with side pipes and found this one- looks more custom than stock. Must have been a pretty rare selection from the factory!

I passed on the gold LIncoln I couldn't take it seriously it was too loud of a color. It would be fine on a Ford Thunderbird of its time. Thanks for the pictures, John.

I found the Firethorn Red version (the only AW on the pegs) at Walmart this morning. It made the journey home with me.

You know that is a lot of engine bay. Wonder what the gas mileage was?
