  • Tins Toys Hong Kong Citybus 3-648366

Hello, I recently found a Tins Toys Hong Kong Citybus 3-648366, and I was wondering if anyone in this group knows anything about this model and its history. I tried to google and I couldn't find anything about it but it doesn't look like the manufacturer makes this model anymore, and maybe this one is from ages ago. Can I assume this is a rare collectible? Is there any way I can get a sense of what this can trade for?

Thanks much for your advice. Clearly a newbie.

Seeing this photo took me back to when I was last in Hong Kong - and I remember picking up a lot of these models back in the day. I will need to try and take a photo of all the ones I have (the one pictured is a variation I don't own).

While I can't help on the rarity aspect, I can tell you that these were sold in the early to late 2000s at various department stores in Hong Kong (notably JUSCO [now AEON], and SOGO). If memory serves me correctly, Citybus was the only licensed livery of the series; some of the other releases (using this same Alexander Dennis casting) were heavily based off of real companies and liveries, minus the branding.

    Hope this helps!

My pleasure. To add to your question about this being a 'collectible', it was not intended as such. Its placement in toy sections of department stores suggests that these were meant for kids, and the price (around $3-4 USD each) indicates the same. As for rarity, an eBay search for similar models yielded no results, so I can't say for sure if these were sold outside of Hong Kong.
