    Hi ,
A simple 24 car retro, classic decades style series available worldwide sounds ok to me. Also how about a full master set of 1-100 basics available to buy in one lot or a competition at the end of a year thru Mattel store or partners online? It's a significant anniversary but seriously Mattel needs to try and get better distribution of all product at brick and mortar retail.
When was the last time you saw a store with the full product range of cars, trucks, planes and playsets?
Whenever there's a toy sale or promotion , lots of HW off location floor pallets but Matchbox Nil.
    Cheers,J

Yes, I think they built a full size car, but they also made a mainline HW car. All I remember was that I was very disappointed in both, as it poorly represented 50 years of Hot Wheels. I can't remember the name of the casting.

For those readers not familiar with Matchbox's Ford F350 Superlift fire truck, here's a reminder or two (and this year, though I'm not there, the Superlift is reportedly in Albuquerque again for the current Matchbox International Gathering of Friends convention, going on today and tomorrow, at the Albuquerque Uptown Marriott hotel.)

        Picture borrowed from the web.

Here's the original expensive special edition (initial appearance) of the F350:

This was the SEMA show's giveaway to registered attendees in that 2011 first appearance. (I bought mine for big bucks online....didn't attend the SEMA confab...)

And how the 1:1 looked at the introduction of the model at the SEMA show around 2011:

b2young I thought you'd have pictures of the rig Blair, being you're personally familiar with it from the Gathering, Thanks for showing the photos and info.

How about making anniversary editions of real cars with a custom Matchbox 70th livery?

Funny how I just noticed the firefighting part of the F350 Superlift SEMA show pumper is actually much longer in the model than on the 1:1. Didn't even notice it in person. Amazing how many colors and decos they've already had of this one...(including, I believe, one each for Matchbox's "Forest Service" AND "National Parks" series---though I can only find the Parks version.).

A very good idea for Matchbox/Mattel for this important milestone is to the cancel the ridiculous exclusivity deal here in the UK where only Tesco are allowed to officially stock the brand. Open it up to other retailers/importers as at the moment we only get basic singles, the UK Series only in their bigger stores, and 5 and 9 packs. We don't get Moving Parts, Collectors, Global or Power Grabs. A very poor situation in Matchbox ancestral country!
