OK, so these probably are not everyone's cuppa tea, but they've shown up in my travels over the past couple of years, and while not every model in the line appeals to me some of the models are not that bad. This is one of the better ones.

Disregarding the front and rear fascias which are for the most part designer's whim, this looks to my eye mostly based on a first generation Chevy Camaro, arguably with a first generation Ford Mustang fastback rear window added. Zurus are not licensed vehicles, so those that are recognizable have modifications to avoid licensing...the rest are pure designer whimsy. These are certainly steps above the pancake generics that come in multipacks at discount stores, but probably a half-notch below typical mainline Hot Wheels and Matchbox. Of the models in the line I have been picking up, there are some pretty cool reinterpretations of well known vehicles including an old Ford pickup and a Land Rover. At this point most models have 3 or 4 color variants and at least 2 different names, it seems the initial names used were dropped in favor of new names.

With plastic bodies and metal bases these are clearly playthings, but like so many makers of recent memory I expect these will be here and gone and 20 years from now collectors will be wondering what these are, and someone can point back here and say they know what they are.
The image file limits have been reset. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

    Thank you for your understanding.

I 'collect' some Zuru castings too. But most of them stay on the pegs when I see them. I have a couple of 3-packs I bought recently, and one of them I bought for this very car, Flair. But, the 3-pack issue is all "chromed"....and striking! As an emergency vehicle collector, I like Zuru's version of the Matchbox 'armored' SWAT truck, the one that mimics the Maxxpro SWAT vehicles from Navistar.

"Flair" in the upper left; the SWAT (called "EPIC" by Zuru) in the lower slot in the right pack. Of course, I also collect Police cars, and their variations...and the Zuru "Subaru" mimics (I guess that's the inspiration?) with the spoilers and the wedgie profile form. Are those rear wheels larger than the front wheels or is it an optical illusion based on that aggro stance? That police car is called, appropriately, "Chase".

The pickup in the bottom of the lefthand pack is a quasi-Gladiator, which I also find to be kinda fun...it's called "DUTY"...but I'm sure some of our friends here might call that "Doody"....

I am not a fan of the "fire engine" by Zuru....but I have several variations of it....probably not photographed. The fire engine is called "Inferno", and very loosely copies Hot Wheels' "5-Alarm", which I have plenty of, thank you very much.

Yep....that about sums up how I feel about them. Although since "Duty" came out before I ever saw a Jeep Gladiator, that is the one I associate with Land Rover - and it's not all that bad of a casting, for what it is.

The middle one you show on the right, the name I forget but I associate that one with a Shelby Cobra, top on.

And it looks to me the wheels are same size on each vehicle, front and back.

Like others, I am fairly selective with these - I have two of the Bearcat SWAT Vans and an Emergency Rescue Service Van -

i agree with Wes that this one does look like they combined up a few different cars to make this one.

I grabbed a "Duty" in the 1st second I saw it! Not a bad knockoff and has custom potential, I need to start my own truck company and call it
              something.else...

You guys might be onto something, looking it over closer I see what could pass as Vega tail lights, and the front minus the grill itself sure looks like '70-72 Mustang with the little dip over the top of the grill and the carve out just behind it going onto the top flat portion of the hood.

I have almost picked some of these up before. Maybe I should. They're decent for what they are, and even though Mattel has been decent lately, competition never hurts.

I noticed that some of the Metal Machines have a decent enough wheel set that can be used to re-wheel a HW or MBX custom.

The one that resembles a 427 Cobra is called Horizon

I noticed Wally here has replaced the HW 3-packs with Zuru 3-packs. I had been interested in the SWAT truck done up as an ambulance, and "Flair" was also in a pack, but not with any other emergency vehicles I cared for, so I passed.

Walmart here has done that also. I've picked up each of the different sets.
