  • Chameleon Nissan GT-R R35

Just spent an hour *this time* (not counting previous searches...) trying to pin down the maker of this model. Clearly one of the Japanese boutique makers, I suspect one factory producing models sold under various names, and I'm beginning to think I may have an early demonstrator.

I have found similar models, but nothing exact, under various names: Liberty Walk, Liberty Works, LB Performance, Time Model, TSM Model, TSM Adult Collectibles, and Mini GT. I have found what may be cousins sold as Ignition, Pandem, Tarmac Works and some relation to X TAGCC (which may be a Malaysian Toy Show).

Similarities are readily apparent, most noticeably the distinct paint / finish, but also the plinth seems to be unique among these listed trade names, with modifications for each as appropriate. Differences to keep an eye on are the rear wing (mine is different from the "ducktail" and the high wing) and the fender flares / body kit mine does not have and most similar listings appear to have. Another point of note, a difference on a very close match was the front grill area, where mine appears to me somewhere close to stock, the other model had a turbo cooler and slightly different grill treatment.

If anyone can pin down my model for me, I would appreciate it.

The image file limits have been reset. We have over-limit warnings for the past 3 months and I've had to lower the image file limits. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I know I've mentioned many times before, but it is very important to downsize images - doesn't matter if they are hosted elsewhere or here. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The new limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

    Thank you for your understanding.

So far 2 out of 4 Facebook users say it comes from a Kyosho factory.

Was this from Ebay? Out of Puchong, Selangor, Malaysia?

Any other markings on the box? or bottom of car?

I suspected something along that line. Yes, Ebay - back on Aug 31, and Yes, Puchong, Selangor, Malaysia.

I've never taken the car off the plinth, so I don't know what is on the base. I've shown the box, about the only distinguishing feature is the bar code...otherwise blank.

Liberty Walk/Liberty Works/LB Performance, and Pandem/Rocket Bunny are two manufacturers of aftermarket body kits. They're the big two who've driven the recent love of highly stylized bodykits that imitate old bolt-on flares and widebody kits from the 70s and 80s.

I'd imagine these brand names are showing up on the widebody R35, but not as often on the stock-bodied versions. If they're showing up on the stock-bodied ones it's likely just metatag spam to get more views.

Quick update, from a few other FB collectors, confirming that this model is a KYOSHO (OEM) unlicensed release. Or as one collector called it, "a night-shift model"
