  • Wondering about a Buick

I had a few Johnny castings of this Buick long before Auto World appeared. I was wondering if the Auto World Buick was a revised mold of the Johnnys???

Here is a few of the Johnny Buicks I had before the Auto Worlds
(excuse the blurry pics. this "STUPID" camera has a mind of it's own"

Here's a strange fact about these Buicks.
I stopped in a Walmart early one morning on the way to work and checked the diecast shelves. Not one cool car to buy on the pegs, not any cars on the pegs. Nothing on the dollar HW and MB pegs either except peg warmers. I came back about 2 hours later to get batteries for my radio and spotted these two AW Buicks hanging in the middle of all the empty pegs. Only these two cars in a 4 feet by 3 feet section of empty pegs. At that time I had never heard of the Ultra Raw cars and I thought this was a new color issue, I knew of the Ultra Reds.
Sometime later I learned of the Ultra Raws and researched them on ebay and at the time the raw was listed at $300.00. A real lucky, lucky find...

I may have the Ultra Raw wagon here also listed at $350.00

    Here's the ebay pic listed.

No. The AW is close-ish to true 1/64, the JL is closer to 1/72.

I have both. These era GM A-bodies like this and my old 1/1 '64 Olds were boats and the AW approximates their bulk better

Those are sharp and I have never seen a raw ever but one at the Flea Market and he wanted a hundred dollars which is cheap compared to most. Since I live with my wife I would never be able to purchase a raw. I love her but she isn't easy to live with concerning my hobby.
Due to the recent budget cuts,
the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, plus the
current state of the economy, the light at the end
of the tunnel has been turned off.

One casting looks like a 1966, while the other looks like a 1967.
