Those two green releases of the CJ-5 are very close to what I'm sure my 1/1 looked like when not a rusting piece of scrap metal save everything but the body. The Classic Gold release is closest, namely because it has the tire mounted on the side, as opposed to none at all on most releases. Only one problem--it was the only release with the I-4 Hurricane motor, while mine has the more powerful Dauntless V-6. Guess I'll have to swap its engine with the rather beat up USN CJ-5 I had as a kid.
I will have to buy a friend of mine the fire release of the XJ. His project XJ is rather close in appearance--minus part of why it's been on my list for years--the Fire/EMS decals. I have three XJs--two green (actually both White Lightnings--one I found at my local Tractor Supply, the other 3000 Toys offered at the same price as MSRP, so I added it to the order) one plain silver.
Wonder if Round 2 will give us an XJ that is not modified at all? So far, Greenlight has yet to release an XJ. I am looking at buying myself a 3-door XJ since it will cost a great deal of money to get my CJ back on the road. I'd also like to see a CJ in "Project in Progress" form. Think some rust and Bondo would look really realistic to what mine is in.
