  • Will Never Part With

This collection was started for me a little over 60 years ago by my grandma.
A collection I will and can never part with!!!
Finding this ad in a magazine many years ago enhanced the memories these little cars possess..

Great collection and photography of the models. You have (or had) a very thoughtful grand mother. I appreciate your post. Thank you, "Stangfreak"!

Displaying the old No. 8 Mustang and an Auto World '68 Mustang together made me realize how good of a casting the old Lesney 'Stang is, for being what, 50 years old? I just think it could have done without the lever for the steering mechanism. The F-150 was also Auto-Steer, but doesn't have the lever.

I always enjoy seeing the pictures of your collection Steve - especially these old Matchbox regular wheels models and the story that goes with it. I know you and I are about the same age so I could "picture us as kids playing with our Matchbox cars together" much like I did with my cousin Tim. Like you I had a neat grandma as well as parents who bought me my Matchbox cars. While I have downsized a good part of my collection it is my old Matchbox cars (as well as most Husky and Budgie) that I plan to hang onto - many precious memories go with those little cars and trucks.

I wish my grandma gave me Matchbox, but she DID buy me the Beatles first American record album, "Meet the Beatles", at SEARS. So, I guess I did okay there...

Fantastic exposition of nostalgia... I see I couple I only found in my old age and weren't in my 'theme', but were genuine Lesney classics, so are here by my side today. You must have been a pretty good boy!
