  • new to me #250 U.S. VAN

I recently bought an old "Mini Vans" 5-pack from ca. 1994 on OFAS. Included are a Ford Transit, two Pontiac Trans Sport, a Toyota Lite Ace and a Ford Custom Van. The yellow Ford van was the main reason I bought the set.

This is the #250 casting with side pipes and a rectangular window on the left. I only knew four variants of this casting: black with a white interior, black with a red interior and yellow with a red interior. All of them featured flame design. In the late 1990s there was also a red custom van with "AVIS" livery for a short time. But that was quickly replaced by the "normal" #234 casting without side pipes and without a rectangular window.

I've somehow never seen it in yellow with a blue interior. There are many on the internet, but I couldn't see any packaged. Was it also available individually or only in this gift set? As far as I know, Majorette didn't have any exclusive variants in 5 packs in the 1990s. Right?

OK, I wasn't aware this was anything special. So I took a look at mine...

The front view of the one was so out of focus I trashed it, but I got to looking closer at these rear shots and can see the reversed colors in the flames....
The image file limits have been reset. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

    Thank you for your understanding.

I am partial to the Pontiac Transport vans, though I wish they used tinted plastic for the top portion - a bit too "fishbowl", but nice to see the dustbuster van represented in a casting aside from the Hot Wheels Lumina van.

I do have the van 5 pack back in a box somewhere, but can't remember what was in it, and If it has this Ford Custom van I'm not at all sure of the variation, It had always been my understanding that these 5 packs didn't include exclusives, but I suppose that even if true, it doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't include some scarce variations.

What a great looking model, I hadn’t seen a yellow version before.
I have quite a few of the regular 234 vans but only two 250’s. Both black with white interior. The flames are stickers so I suspect one has had the stickers removed as opposed to being a variant.
