It looks a little dated now, but when this came out it was one of if not the first representation of this groundbreaking supercar.

Like many long running vehicles, the Lambo Countach went through a number of changes and upgrades over the years it was made. Even so, the accuracy of this representation seems a wee bit off to my eye, even taking into account the garish decorations (a kid's toy!). I seem to recall this was late in the Lesney era, and if mistaken then it was very early in the Universal era, though the design cues and "aura" don't really reflect Universal's influence just yet.

All things considered and taken in context of its time; this is an interesting model of an interesting automobile.

The image file limits have been reset. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

    Thank you for your understanding.

Definitely a classic! Lamborghinis are one of my sons favorite to collect. I wonder if he’s seen this one (I have before).

    Thanks for sharing!

This version is part of the "Streakers" line of Superfast that debuted around 1975-76. They were the first Matchbox to have tampo-print graphics, much like the Flying Colors era of Hot Wheels.

I would like to see how this casting would look without the mediocre 70's tampo, generic 5 square wheels, and chrome interior - I may have to make that a summer project of mine.
As a kid, this was always one of my brothers favorite toy cars- while I gravitated to the AMC Javelin, Dodge Challenger, and Pontiac Firebird. Funny thing is, he became quite wealthy and has owned numerous Jaguars, Bentleys, BMWS, and Aston Martins and I've kept on with the common man cars (Fords and Chevy's for the most part).

This is specifically Gandini's original concept, the '71 LP 5000.
