  • Racing Champions Studebaker Starlight Coupe and Greenlight 1947 Kenskill Kamper

One of my most anticipated additions to my collection, ever since Round 2 revived JL and RC, was the Studebaker Starlight Coupe, a relatively well-done and well-scaled casting compared to a lot of the other RC Mint castings. I got the rare "special factory option" two-tone paint version because of the real car's significance (only one like it was made in real life; it sits in the Studebaker Museum now). I added a trailer hitch to mine in anticipation of someday scoring a Hot Wheels 100% 1949 Airstream trailer, but for now, it tows my Greenlight '47 Kenskill Kamper teardrop trailer quite nicely.

Drool power times 100! Awesome Studebaker in the factory colors. I am still in search of this one (and the other color release...as well as the two Edsel's) from those revived castings. It looks great with the vintage trailer!

I have an older release of this car in green. I wonder if it's the same casting...?

Basically it is - Round 2 "reissued" a number of the earlier Racing Champions castings with little differences from the earlier issues. Here is one of the green issues (my favorite is it is the same color as my first car which was a '51 Studebaker. There is also a dark green version.

YEP, even a diehard 'emergency vehicle' collector can see the beauty in a Studebaker. I'd have surely bought one had I seen it in stores, without knowing a thing about the exclusivity of the 1:1 in this color.
