  • Matchbox TC-18 Transporter set DHL

Today I received a package from France with the 1991 Matchbox "DHL" Team Convoy set TC-18. Unfortunately, the package was not delivered by DHL...

The MB 202 Mack CH600 truck comes with a matching MB 048 Sambron fork lift. The fork lift was also available individually in 1993 / 94. I already had one of these, which made unloading faster.

Unfortunately, the containers are a bit yellowed, but that's not too tragic.

    Very nice set !

That seems to be a problem oftentimes with white plastic as it ages, it doesn't always want to stay white. I suppose daylight could be a cause sometimes, but I've heard of people having models in boxes for a long time, and it still yellowed.

      Nice set!

A new container needs to be made for Convoy, so that both the current telehandler and forklift can unload them from trucks. Honestly, I'm surprised why Working Rigs has yet to feature a forwarder or a skidder that works with the logs that are currently in use in some of the models. Back in the day, having universal containers that fit on tractor-trailers, sea vessels, and rail cars, as well as two casting designed with forks that could load and unload them resulted in huge play value that has to this date been unmatched.

It would be interesting to know what makes the white plastic yellow. When I still had the Convoy trucks and Majorette trucks they were displayed in a room in my basement with no windows so sunlight would not be the cause. I often times wonder if there was some chemical in the plastic that made it yellow over time - just a random thought.
