    Footnotes:

Each car came with a license plate, some with a sheet of license plate stickers the owner could select from. Plates have been found for all 50 US states, all of the Provinces of Canada, and released only in European markets (not in America) were plates for the different districts of England.

Production was first in Hong Kong, and later moved to Macao. Most models have chrome bases, some of the later made models are found with black bases as well. I believe Hong Kong issues were primarily chrome bases though some black base HK models are known, and Macao issues could be found with both chrome and black bases...making three possible minor variations for a given paint scheme (and occasionally four), not counting all of the possible license plate variations.

Most models were found in two primary paint schemes, while a few (King Cobra, Piston Pusher) could be found with some additional special editions.

Of note, Universal acquired the tools for this line, and 4 models found their way into the Matchbox lineup with modifications; the Gravel Grinder Jeep, King Cobra Mustang, Cruiser Bruiser / Mighty Mule Chevy Blazer, and Dirt Digger sand rail. Rumor is the Dirt Digger tooling broke after one release and it was never seen again. The Mustang had several releases up to the point Mattel bought Matchbox, and hasn't been seen since. The Jeep and the Blazer are still active in the lineup as I write this in 2019.

    Super Sport model list

    late 1960s Dodge pickup truck
    late 1960s open wheel racer
    late 1960s Pontiac Firebird

The Super Sport series was poorly timed, coming out about the same time Hot Wheels redlines first hit the stores. This short lived and quite rare series is very similar in size and construction to regular wheel era Matchbox, who they intended to compete with.

The image file limits have been reset. We have over-limit warnings for the past 3 months and I've had to lower the image file limits. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I know I've mentioned many times before, but it is very important to downsize images - doesn't matter if they are hosted elsewhere or here. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The new limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

    Thank you for your understanding.
