  • Husky: Man From U.N.C.L.E. Car

And here we have the ride for Illya Kuryakin and Napoleon Solo from Husky as they serve as U.N.C.L.E. agents ready to take on those nasty agents from T.H.R.U.S.H.

Going by hair color, Solo is on the left and Kuryakin on the right

I wish I had known it was out there back in the day...no doubt my folks conveniently neglected to inform me at the time! We watched that show every week, I think it was mostly my Dad that liked it, but I thought it was pretty good too even though I didn't quite understand what was going on.

Now, the Green Hornet...that's another story altogether!
The image file limits have been reset. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

      Thank you for your understanding.

I didn't watch the show and had no idea this was their car. I remember being aware of the show. Maybe it was on at an inconvenient time slot. Who knows? What kind of car is it? Something custom?

I remember this car and can even remember seeing it on the shelves. I had never seen it in the show though...
Looks pretty cool even by today's standards...

The car is an AMT Corp. Pirahna Coupe Concept Car designed by Gene Winfield in Phoenix. AZ. Not sure why but I know at one time it was listed as an Oldsmobile.

I watched the show by default - my sister was a big, big fan (especially of Mr. Kuryakin-later found out so was my wife ). I honestly do not recall the car from the show. The piece in my collection, as you can see is used, and was bought second hand as I was trying to fill in the pieces of my Husky Extra collection plus at the time I was adding a lot of TV/Movie related cars to my collection thanks to many of the ones ERTL was offering in the day. In doing a little research on the car - discovered that the opening front piece is where they hid special spy gear like a flame thrower.

Great info. In any event, it's a nice looking example, especially since it's a Husky. Does it have the standard chrome base? I must have seen one or two episodes of the show, but don't remember them clearly. I recall seeing the two stars interact on screen but have no recollection of plot, etc.

I watched the show too, but I don't remember that car at all, and I was always prone to notice any cool car that appeared in a TV program. Maybe it appeared before I caught on to the show. In its first season it was up against Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, IIRC. A friend of mine told me that show was "kid stuff" compared to Man from U.N.C.L.E. I had to admit he was right.

Was the car featured on the show much? Now I'll hafta order a DVD set of the show.

If I recall from what I read, the car was used in some of the later seasons and apparently not that often. Here is a picture of the base which is same color as the car. Even has the U.N.C.L.E. logo on the base!

It was a cool logo. Now that I know what it is, I'll probably grab it next time I see it. May have seen it before but didn't know what it was. Will also look at youtube to see if any clips of the car exist.

Don't really remember much about any cars in the show, but I do have a Playart UNCLE car from my childhood that is way different than this one, looks like a regular American car of the era, maybe that one is what the Oldsmobile reference you saw somewhere John was talking about.

I show it to you guys if I had a clue what box it is buried in right now.

Here is a YouTube video with the car.

Not sure why this character is driving. Looks like it could be a scene from a 007 movie.

The design was later taken over by Borg-Warner Co. subsidiary Marbon Chemical (makers of the Cycolac ABS plastic body shells) and a few running cars made as proof of concept-type creations. The design was later adapted to the VW pan and turned into a tragically ugly kit car called the "Seagull'. The other Man From UNCLE diecast was a '61 or '62 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 sedan made by Playart.
