  • Impy color variation

Snarfed these three recently. Noticed the Volvo and one of the Mercedes is more ivory than the standard gray. Maybe it's just a shade of gray? Comparing an older photo, it seems like there were also possible subtle variations in shade. Can't get them out right now to do a line-up comparison. Never noticed it before.

    New photo (new acquirements).

    Older photo (different examples).

I have a white Volvo like yours but it has green interior.
I've seen only white and red Volvos but never in gray color.

The gray on the middle car in your first pic also seems to have been applied more... abundantly than usual. Has it been painted over, maybe?

I don't think it was a repaint but I see what you mean. The other white-ish one in the foreground of the second photo seems to be thicker, so maybe the white ones had an extra coat. I'll try to take a few new pix soon.

I have another white Volvo with blue interior, but it doesn't have the rhinestone headlights. It's not missing them, but I think the casting was different. Without looking, not sure if it has the speed wheels or not. I don't think it does. I will hopefully get them out soon for a group photo and do some comparing.

I just unearthed the other Volvo, and it appears to have some type of faceted jeweled headlights, but they definitely don't sparkle. That's why I originally documented it as not having them. Were "transitional rhinestones" used before the speed wheels came out?

Comparison photo. Recent obtainment on the left, and the older one (to me) - listed as "no rhinestone headlights" in the database on the right. Maybe they just need to be cleaned/stripped/buffed/polished/waxed.
