I've been waiting patiently to see real pictures of this casting.
In particular I wanted to see the front end because some of the preliminary images didn't look good.
The rest of the casting looks excellent.
I still need to hold one in my hand to pass judgement.
Thanks for all the excellent pictures.

Agree, the frontal part looks a bit too high. The 73 Ranchero seems better though, judging solely from the pre-production models.
I might just have to grab one of these. I'm an El Camino fan, but a Ranchero would fit right in with them. A little variety, a little time for "the other guys". I'd like to see one with "Ranchero GT" "laser stripes" or maybe "Ranchero Squire" wood appliques.
JeepXJ, thanks for your pictures.
After viewing them a few times; I went ahead and bought a copy of it.
I am really impressed with this specific version of the casting.
I am glad that I bought it.
BYW GL, a job well done on this one.👍
I forget the exact cut off, but Ford switched from the Falcon to the Torino as the base for the Ranchero somewhere between 1970-72. The '79 had what would have been a Gran Torino front clip, I think the car was by then called LTD II. It was definitely up from the Fairmont and Granada. I remember thinking Ford should have swapped over to the Fairmont as the base and keep the Ranchero as a budget minded car, but I didn't know at the time the '79 would be the final year.
The image file limits have been reset. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)
The Ranchero sure had a interesting platform history. Starting off on the full size car platform. Then moving to compact Falcon platform. Then the midsize Fairlane platform for awhile and finally to the Torino platform, also a midsize. But by the end in 79 there were quite large.

yeah 79 was the last year for the Ranchero
while the El Camino lasted until 1987!
