    Hot Wheels Classic Cord redline

    One of my treasures, a hot pink Classic Cord redline. The top is aftermarket and the front wheels are updated, need to do the rears, but all else is factory original. Paint has a couple flea bites, but it still has the original windshield and hood - parts that often go missing.

    This to me is an example of "you never know what you can find." This was buried in a small lot of cars, I want to say Majorette, from a seller in Canada. Not picking on Canada, but I think the seller's focus was on the Majos and he didn't know what he had in the redline Cord. I picked up the entire lot, shipping included, for a fraction of what this model typically brings in the condition it was in. While the Cord may not have the same level of recognition that the Camaro, Mustang, Charger or Olds 442 have, the Cord still commands a stiff premium over many other redline issues.
    The image file limits have been reset. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

      Nice car! It could be my screen, am I seeing what appears to be paint on the
      front and rear bumpers and tail lights ...

      Many years ago I paid 700.00 for this all original one which has since moved along.

        As I recall a previous owner did touch the taillights, not sure about the front bumper.

                Yeah thats magenta the most common color, not hot pink.
                I just looked at ofas and not seeing any record of an original
                hot pink sale. I actually traded the car to Chuck G from
                Rochester NY for a pile of original Johnny Toppers.

                    It was around 2008 that I purchased the HP Cord from a reputable
                    person in Canada rdln66 Frank. At the time one of us didnt have
                    PayPal so I sent a pink international USPS money order.
                    Keep in mind at that time 700.00 was top dollar.
                    I held the car for around a year and went to a toy show in
                    Rochester NY where I seen Chuck G. He is very well known among
                    the Redline community. His ol' man is into slot cars. Anyways, I showed
                    him the car and gave the history. I actually do recall two of the cars
                    acquired in the trade. A purple Thunderbird like shown in the lower right
                    corner of the pic you provided and a sealed door Toronado being the
                    king pin of the trade. At the time it was valued at around 200.00,
                    I dunno what the car would sell for today. I still have a pic of that
                    car although they have all since found new homes.

                        Wow, I love that hot pink Cord, that really is a treasure! My guess for the one I had as a kid is magenta, but I sold all my cars as a (dumb) teenager. I bought a Cord probably 20 years ago, an apple green with some toning especially the hood, but glad to have it.
