  • MAN #1172 '75 CHEVY CAPRICE CLASSIC

The '75 CHEVY CAPRICE CLASSIC is back with a chrome base plate. That was a complaint from some collectors when the first issue arrived. It also has a new colour and new wheels:

Nice! I like the new color and the chrome base/bumpers really enhances this model! This version I would consider getting!

It looks so much better with chrome on it. Good to see that the MB team is listening!

Now that is a MAJOR improvement!

The color is right... the much-needed chrome is a major step up... and that last-minute change to the disc wheels is a perfect choice!

I say last minute change, because the car on the card art is clearly wearing a different (and less appropriate) set of Matchbox wheels.

        Well done.

If you want to get even more clever, you could hit the inside of the discs with a matching bit of pen or paint.

Haven't seen any of the new batch on cards yet....but just this morning I found the entire batch in Power Grabs boxes (Fred Meyer store, Eagle Island, ID). Looks like the PG batches will match the carded cases/mixes 1 for 1 if I counted the numbers included in one PG case correctly. I believe in the 'old' system the PG cases were more like a mix of two 'card cases' (since the 'card cases' carried repeats of some of the previous batch)...in other words, the old PG cases might not contain everything you expect from a particular card case mix, but the current/2020 PG mixes match the cards to the number of each model in a case. (I'm probably wrong on the mixes in the PG cases, but I don't remember seeing everything in a carded assortment in a PG case at around the same time as the same "new batch" is released on cards until today.)
