It is really difficult to express how much I've grown to appreciate the models from this company, and the short span of time it took to impress me. I like to think I'm not easily impressed. OK, so I do go out of my way to find the "charm" in each maker - which sometimes takes a good bit of looking to find. With Yonezawa the search is instantaneous, just like Ertl American Muscle or Lone Star Impy (the originals with jewelled lights and all the opening features).
So I've been looking for affordable Cherica models lately, very difficult with the following they have developed and the short supply of collectible grade models available. I stumbled on this, and at the price I finally gave in even though I generally shy away from larger scale models.

Anyone around here who has known me for any length of time knows how enamored I am of the luxo barges and gangster barges of the 1930s. Top of the heap is Duesenburg. These were the cars everyone else aspired to be. These were the cars that could run 100 mph all day long without laboring. These were the cars that consistantly won at Indy every year for the better part of a decade. Doosies set land speed records.

And they did it all with grace and elegance.

Yes, this is a model, mostly metal, and quite hefty. The "soft top" and trunk are plastic, and not much else.

4 opening doors and a lifting second cowl, Yonezawa did a superb job on this one. Even though it is scaled at 1/27, the detail is phenomenal.
