Yonezawa has or had a long history making high quality models, though most are of larger scale. There is a short run series that appears to have been an early challenge to the popularity of Tomica, though the models were slightly larger (and very hefty!). Chericas have a very devoted fanbase that keeps the value of collector grade models respectable.
This is the only racecar in the series if my memory is serving me. Some of the other models doubled as law enforcement and first responder variants of otherwise civilian models, all of which are native Japanese. With the rising interest in Asian vehicles, particularly vintage Japanese, Cherica along with early Tomica enjoy a widespread appreciation among collectors.
