    Surprise! Johnnys and AutoWorld at Target

    I’ve been hearing about Greenlight coming to Target, but imagine my surprise when I saw these Auto World and Johnny Lightning models on the pegs today…

    Auto World and JL Street Freaks assortment priced at $5.99 each, while the JL Tins and movie models are priced at a (likely peg-warming) $8.99 each. The Tins and 007 models have some pretty dated and many-times-done castings in them. I predict they will not move quickly.

    The $5.99 models should move well, though. Case in point: these came home with me…

    I really like the color combo on the Nova. Also looking forward to comparing the AW Corvette to the Greenlight I have.

    I would rather have the Van Halen version of the Zinger AW/JL, but may be able to trade this one for that one.

    Happy to have this fun take on the old Nascar Olds Cutlass 442 (and I didn’t want to buy the whole set to get it).

    My childhood family pediatrician actually had one of these Colonnade Cutlass 442s back in the day. Would be nice to have a non-Nascar/non-Demo Derby model of one someday. At least we have the new Greenlight Colonnade Chevelle to look forward to soon.

      Nice finds Lane. The AW square body on the JL Zinger chassis will give those who collect the niche something new and out of left field. Loving the Nova wagon with inline 6. Thanks for sharing. My nearest Target is 55 miles north of me and might be heading back in that direction in the next week or so.

          Wow, do you mind giving a general location of this Target? Our Target never has anything but matchboxes and Hotwheels.
          Due to the recent budget cuts,
          the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, plus the
          current state of the economy, the light at the end
          of the tunnel has been turned off.

                Today I checked and they had Johnny Lightnings and space for Greenlight but nothing in stock. No Auto World. Thanks for the heads-up.

                  Stopped in at a Target today on my way to Sunday morning breakfast with my firefighting Hot Wheels buddy, and the AW and JLs were surprisingly well-stocked in the Matchbox section of the diecast aisle. Bought the Monopoly prisoner bus because it was a prisoner black/white bus....a bit shocked at the sticker price, but hey, what's a little inflation between friends, huh?

                  Now I have the "Monopoly playing piece" of the bus but no Monopoly game or board....hmmm.....and no one to play the game with if I had one...

                    That is very exciting news, I hope this turns out to be rolled out nationwide. They did this about 5 years ago in test stores, but apparently the test failed at that time.

                      Went back but still haven't seen any Greenlights stocked and their were more Johnny Lightnings, Monopoly Series to be exact.

                        Those prices are very optimistic, most of that will have to be heavily discounted before it moves.

                          I will be in Bismarck later today. Depending on schedule will try and make a Target stop to see if they have any of these "new" brands on the pegs.

                            Eugene and Springfield have Greenlights (several different series) and a few JLs (tinned cars, only one of which appeals to me, that being the Bill Thomas Cheetah), Street Freaks and Muscle Cars USA, and pegs marked for Auto World. No Majorettes, and very little new stuff from either Mattel brand. They also have the Spin Master 1/48 scale or so "Original Grave Digger" monster truck 2-pack and a nice selection (if oft-picked over) of Jada and Maisto large scales.

                              I have been to several Target stores around my area many times and not one have any diecast other than HWs and MBs. They all have a "P**S POOR selection of those. I gave up on Target long ago!!!
