  • Two Newbies

Since my mother's passing last month, and with the financial circus she left me with, I haven't been able to afford much at all in the way of diecast. 1 dollar bills suddenly became as valuable as 1 hundred dollar bills. I did squeeze out a couple of bucks for these two new releases. I figured a buck each, I deserve at least that much. Come to find out they were on sale, buy one~get one free. A two for one thing. To show ya how my luck has gone this past two months,. IT WAS THE ONLY TWO THE CHUMPS HAD!!!

I have this same Beetle in blue and several other older colors, but a red one is always good!!!!

Thank you Mark. It sure is a tough one to deal with. I'm 65 years old and feel like an orphan... Lost my father several years ago, but never was as close with him. She had been fighting a blood disease that was a cause of leukemia. She had been on chemo for the last 2 1/2 years and to my surprise, handling it much, much better than I did. The chemo began doing harm to other organs, liver and kidneys, and had to be stopped. It didn't take long to go into full blown leukemia and took her rather quickly. You think you sort of prepare yourself for something like this, but when the time comes, you realize you aren't prepared for "SQUAT"... It's a rough ride only time can ease.. Thank you once again Mark!!!

So sorry to hear about the death of your mother, Steve. It is always difficult to lose a parent no matter what our age is. Both of my parents have been gone for many years (mom died when I was 16 and dad before I was 40). Like you I am 65. One is never prepared when that time comes - may you hold special memories of her in your heart. Know you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

So sorry for your loss Steve, I've experienced that heartbreak too, so know we're with you through it.

Glad you found a couple nice models to help lift your spirit a bit.

I’m hoping to find one of those bugs, I have a fondness for vw’s.
I’m sorry for your loss, and I understand that feeling of being an orphan. It’s odd, you think of kids when you think of orphans, but when I lost my remaining parent I felt that same sensation, of being alone, of losing my whole family, my link to my roots. I was 43 and have siblings and a huge family of outlaws, but I felt like an orphan.

My condolences for your loss, too. I felt the same when my mother passed a decade ago, and I still miss the phone calls we had.

Sometimes I don't expect to find anything (diecast) I'm looking for, and I walk into a store and there it is front and center, and there's a feeling I wasn't gonna come to this store at all but changed my mind at the 'last minute' and THERE'S what I've been looking for....and one of my first thoughts is that Mom or Dad directed me there from beyond....Mom especially loved my collection and collecting....she even went with me on a few hunts in antique malls near her house...so when I find something I had completely given up hope for, I figure she may be watching over me still...
