  • Jeep Scrambler

It's the latest, or at least the latest I found anyway. From the series that is $1.27 at WMs, they also had the Subaru Brat in red from the series, but decided only on this Jeep pu.

It seems like they changed it a couple times since the original, I remember it was modified to a generic one time, and lasted awhile, and then went back to being licensed with the Jeep grill, and Jeep name on the tailgate, so I don't know if it changed again, maybe.

I do like the design on this latest version of the Jeep Scrambler - have not seen this series on the pegs in my area yet.

I've always liked the Scrambler casting. Will probably pick one up if I see it and it's new...(what's the copyright date on the back of the card?....the card art looks familiar to me, but it's too cold to go out to the garage and check my HW tub(s) to see if maybe it's older than this fall...)

Says 2018 Mattel on the back, though this was the first I'd seen of it, which with the way my area WM sometimes stocks it'd be no surprise if it is old.

Looks like Mattel gave it the "front-wall-of-bed-as-part-of-plastic-interior" and "muddy tire" treatments. Interesting model.

Even the old Scrambler casting had a partially plastic bed connected to the interior. My son recently picked one up during one of our Flea Market visits, so I have one handy... and learned some new things about it.

According to South Texas Diecast, the Scrambler casting seems to have had three phases of life.

Introduced in 1983 as part of the Real Riders series (with RR's until 1986, and hard plastic tires through 1988, when it disappeared from use.)

Then, in 1997 it returned as the "Trailbuster" with some slight changes to the grille and tailgate to erase some of the Jeep trademarks (that is what this one is).

The third version is the all-new casting that debuted in 2009, which the "dirty tires" version above is based on.

Upon close review I was surprised to see the Trailbuster was made in India.

mine is the same as yours but there's a spare tire in the back!
Also has the Hot Wheels logo on the right rear fender

This one also has the logo on one side. The plastic piece seems to be the only difference.

Worth getting if you'd like to customize one. It has clear glass, unlike a lot of other reissues

I never noticed the modified grill on this casting. Kind of wish I didn't see it!

Actually the newer ones (Like the green one) went back to a traditional Jeep style grill with the 7 vertical spaces.
