  • 2020 Calendar

Just found this 2020 Hot Wheels calendar at the Dollar Tree this morning, as usual I could rather find better HWs models of all their choices to use for a calendar, but I always like to get something toy car related to hang on my wall, but deep down wish they would produce a Matchbox calendar also, though this one will definitely serve its purpose.

    It measures about 10x10 closed

Also found they finally stocked some Matchbox and HWs, the Mbx were a newer batch, but I found this police car on the HWs pegs which I think is an older batch, but a police model I missed, I did find the same one in red a couple months back at WMs, but I think it came after this white one?

I got one at DT last year as well, it's hanging on my wall right now, but maybe HWs are the ones that sell out quick when they get their holiday stuff in, that seems to usually be when they get the coming years calendars, right around this time.

Nice find, but I'm w/ you. Would rather have a 1-75 MBX calendar.

I think they should hire a new art designer. They always use the fantasy cars in goofy back grounds. I was really disappointed in their USPS stamps also...

Honestly, even using the same card art from some of the better castings would be a better idea and I bet it would appeal to collectors more...

I agree with you Steve, using nicer card art like these would make a much more attractive calendar, I don't know if they are just after kids with the models/designs they use, but then when you think about it how many kids buy calendars.

Kids don't buy them, but their parents do.

I'm willing to bet HW is using 'original designs' only to avoid licensing fees, which would either make the calendar unprofitable or too expensive.

Yeah you are probably right about all that, at $1 that can't really afford to pay extra fees, and I wonder how much Mattel has to do with these dollar store calendars anyway, they may be entirely created by a third party, and it might be the only thing Mattel does is approve or reject images for licensing to the calendar company.

Like some of the others this calendar does nothing for me (kind of like most of the USPS stamps). Had it been some of the classic Hot Wheels or more realistic models might have given it a thought or two.
