In the past week or so I've developed a sudden interest in DCP tractor trailers, which was soon dampened after watching a few auctions; those things are pricey! So now I'm thinking of getting an alternate brand. I have the opportunity to bid on this Maisto International Lonestar tractor in 1/64 scale on a certain auction site that we're not allowed to link to. I think I can get one for about $12 give or take a few dollars. Can anyone tell me a little bit about these and what they're worth? Are they less of a collectors item and more of a toy?

I knew this was a recent release, and did some digging. It is still available new in box, and sells for $9-12. It appears whoever is selling the one you intend to buy has modified the piece to have a more stock appearance, by removing the skirts/fenders from the rear wheels.
If you're looking for a cheapish DCP, Mack Trucks currently has a Nascar-themed Pinnacle on their merchandise website for $29, which is surprisingly cheaper than just the tractor sold by itself. I have a single DCP in my collection, an International 4300 refrigerated truck advertising Erb Transport out of Ontario. I got mine as a part of a lot, and they're going for what I paid for that lot--which included NZG, First Gear, DCP, PEM, SIKU, among others. Very well detailed, but also really fragile, and expensive. A mirror broke off in transit. Tractor-trailers I don't mind in 1/100 (like older MBX Convoy, and Mini Shinsei) and 1/87, but as the owner of two 1/64 Winross tractor trailers, they're too big to find a place for.

We don't have any rules against posting auction links if you're not just promoting it. Posting it to ask about it is fine.
The Greenlights are good. The DCPs are worth the money. I have yet to see a Maisto truck casting I would spend the lower asking price on.

Do you happen to know what the in-store retail price of the Greenlights (the tractor alone) tends to be?"You can sit there and dream about it, or you can stand up and make it happen."
