  • Ordinary and extraordinary 1:1 Russian police cars

(N.B. If Apparatus Bay is not the right topic please move my post to the right direction.)

Sometimes on the web I come across interesting photos of cars that are unusual to see as Russian police cars. I guess these photos may be of interest to other collectors of 3" police cars.
Please feel free to ask if you need translation of inscriptions on cars. As I remember I posted meaning and translation of the most usual inscriptions years ago on swiftysgarage forum.
I think these photos will be useful for DIYers.

Nice "foreign" cars appropriated by the Russian police! The Galaxie would be cool in that Russian livery. GL, what do you think?

I wouldn't expect anything on Russia's roads could out run that Porsche at that time.!

Thanks for sharing those - interesting to see that a Ford Station Wagon was used by Russia police - I agree Blair it would be a neat and unique model for GreenLight to offer.

I'm afraid that the road conditions in USSR at that time did not match a Porsche Targa (?). There was probably little ground clearance and a robust vehicle was probably faster than this Targa, at the latest when the driver turned onto a small road ...

I rode shotgun for many an hour and many a mile in an old 67 Ford Wagon, looked just like this one except for the color.

I'm wondering if maybe the one above is a '68? I know there was a facelift that brought the headlights horizontal rather than stacked. Unless possibly a Euro spec got the update a year early?
The image file limits have been reset. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

              Thank you for your understanding.

Wes, I'm not sure, it could be a simple mistake with dates in that source.
