    Bruce McLaren is a storied racecar builder and driver who left us much too young. His company continues, now giving us high powered supercars for the street.

    Aurora is better known for their model kits and HO scale slot cars, but for a time in the 1960s and 70s many of their slot car bodies were also offered as free wheeling toys. I'm partial to the earlier models with rubber tires on rims such as this, but later models were made with narrow, hard plastic speed wheels.

    The image file limits have been reset. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

    I liked those early Cigar Box cars that came with the rubber tires. Guessing you may have found out - those little rubber tires with age tend to easily fall off and can be real fun to find once they do.

        I am wondering--do the new tires made for the classic Aurora chassis work for the Cigar Box cars? I know that the Auto World versions don't, since they have wide rear wheels on their repro Thunderjets with magnets. But, reproductions from companies like Jel Claws are made for the original chassis.

        I wonder if Auto World would bring back the Cigar Box cars? I know that at one point, Playing Mantis did offer JL Thunderjet bodies on pullback chassis.

          That is as much as I know. I have a few, if I didn't sell them on, but I can't address any of the rest.
