Funny Hot Wheels issue, this Anglia 105E was issued (I want to say '02 or '03) first in a playset with a tie-in to the second Harry Potter movie, that would be the blue variant, the base is no different on it than the others shown here, none of which have "Hot Wheels" in the base as every other Hot Wheels model I can think of does. The first issue in the Hot Wheels mainline never did get the FE treatment (which had some of us, myself included, wondering if it might be a leftover Corgi jr at the time). There are a few other Hot Wheels issues, but this model didn't get used much. I could all but swear I've seen the bronze Rallye variant somewhere back in the day, but after years of looking I still can't figure out where. I have to admit to myself that maybe I'm misremembering, that this might be a Rit dye custom...I still don't think it is, but until I can show how it was issued I'm leaving the shadow of doubt. Which leaves the red one here...a complete mystery. I know Matchbox and Maisto both had "first car" series done in bright primary colors, but Hot Wheels hasn't done anything like that. I don't know how or even if this red example was ever issued, I've never seen another...

I've only run across the grey version over the years. I'm surprised they haven't reissued this one in a premium version in the Retro Entertainment series yet. That would be one I'd get!

I have to say I like that casting.
Due to the recent budget cuts,
the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, plus the
current state of the economy, the light at the end
of the tunnel has been turned off.

I'm SURE we'll be seeing this casting in other forms in the coming years.

I wanted to get that blue one for my daughter who grew up with the Harry Potter movies. It was so hard to find that I settled for a Lesney Matchbox version.

That red one sure looks factory made, of course there is no base photo, but if the rivets look untampered with, you probably got something there, maybe a color trial or a set that never came to market, I don't really know what, of course I also know with Matchbox that factory workers used to sometimes do their own thing with models in the factory, and they somehow get to market, maybe HWs plant workers do the same thing.

I have the plain blue one. Someone said it's from a Harry Potter game or something. Had to have it since it was like the blue Anglia Matchbox from Ye Olden Daze.

If you look, my last photo shows the base of the red one compared to the base of the gray HW. Anyone can see the rivets are not messed with, and it is painted up inside the wheel wells.

There are several ebay sellers now selling "loose" (still in the baggie) copies of the Spider Swarm playset issue. The one in my pics came from a trashed playset, but I have since picked up a couple more at a fair price compared to what the playset sells for.

One can hope, but it has already been several years since last this model was issued. There was an Easter issue '06 or '07, thereabout. And a 5 pack issue, around the same time. So it has been probably about ten years since this model last was used in the HW lineup.

Oh yeah Wes, I didn't even notice the reds base shot there, and sure looks right to me.
