I'm glad that GL brought back the themed sets with the little figures! And a nice bikini figure at that! (Am I allowed to say this these days?) . . .

But this is a diecast forum, and LOVING that Oldsmobile 442 Vista Cruiser with the gorgeous rallye wheels, surf board and hood scoops. I am so sick of the old stigma that station wagons were boring and embarassing. This one flies right in the face of that nonsense!

Yes, it is neat to see some new sets from GL. I like the Oldsmobile wagon with the surf board on the roof. But for me the one model I would want is the VW lifeguard/rescue truck since it would fit my emergency vehicle collection - plus uniquely enough, our church body has a mission on Waikiki Beach

That one is cool... I have many of the old GL sets like the dioramas, the two car sets and the multi car Route 66 set. They always have had cool sets...

Love the sets, Stangfreak! Most were before or released around the time I resumed collecting . . . If I stop collecting, I ALWAYS resume collecting when I have a new nephew. It's a situation of "ONE for you FOUR for ME!" The diorama style ones are best, in my opinion. The imagination they spark is just so perfect. I have seen the diorama sets in TRU in Canada recently, but have no idea where in the USA these will be sold at the bricks and mortar retail level.

Yeah, I am so glad the theme sets are back!!! I thought they were doomed because Toys R Us went defunct in the States, which was the primary retail outlet here. I haven't been in Pep Boys recently, but they sometimes sold the sets too. Unfortunately, not all Pep Boys carry them. Hobby Lobby would probably charge $50 for the set, IF they carried them. Too bad that Meijer stores in the midwest aren't in my area, as I complained before. Someone posted this amazing treasure trove of the selection of diecast there.

I too love that wagon in the beach set. The Jeep looks tasty as well.

Yeah, I'd like to find that Waikiki beach set too. Especially for the Vista Cruiser, but the VW too The 4X4's, not so much, but I'm sure I can think of ways to use them in future dioramas whenever I finally get around to building them, that is!

Yes, "get around to building them", indeed! I start so many projects that are half-finished! Maybe instead of go on vacation I should get this, some sand and plastic waves from a hobby store, and build my own beach! Just stare at the "ocean" for hours. I'm liking that Renegade, too. Not sure of the year, but it looks so "Seventies" / "Eighties".
