  • Oddball Pontiac

As some of you may know, I'm on a mission to fill up the Summer database.
Now i managed to get this Pontiac Firebird #8705F. So far so good. That Pontiac was missing from database.
Usually those Summers that have the F in the end have rear window louvers. So does this one but the louvers are part of the body.

The wheels, the windows and overall quality just is not Summer. I was 100% sure that this is Rhino when first saw it but the number on the base makes me question everything I know about Rhino.

I've never seen a Rhino with a number.
I tried to find a picture of Summer's Pontiac 8705F but found only this exact car with same tampo, color and wheels. One wheel variation was also pictured but that was another Rhino wheel type.

Can anyone tell is there really a Summer Pontiac 8705F. Maybe even show a pic of one. Or is this just another connection between Summer and Rhino that I was not knowing of ???

      And the mystery continues....

The image file limits have been reset. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

      Thank you for your understanding.

I have a series of six of these. Some were sold with trailers. You'll see a trailer hitch near the rear wheels of your Pontiac.

          Here are the others...

          #8701F Mazda RX-7 with Trailer:

#8702F Chevrolet Camaro with Boat & Trailer:

          #8703F Chevrolet Corvette:

          #8704F Porsche 928 with Yacht & Trailer:

          #8706F Datsun 260Z with Trailer:

          The trailers attach as so:

They were sold on a Silver Sport blister card here in Canada:

I'm wondering if they are Gingell.

I was waiting for you, Mark, to come and shine some light to this matter.
I have had the Porsche and Datsun but neither had those wheels or numbers. Datsun didn't have trailer hitch. I ID'd them as Rhino but now i'm not sure anymore.

Gingell, Rhino or something else? That's the question.

I think it's safe to say that those are not Summer and their numbers can be removed from the Summer database.

I have this version of the Mazda as #701:

The Datsun has appeared in the Summer range at #S8562F:

The Horse Box shown on the blister card has been sold with a Summer Audi:

on some of the ones shown the trailers look better than the cars.

That white Mazda is Gingell, no doubt. I have an idea where that might be copied from. I just need to find the car from my collection.
Same maker did Camaro too. Maybe those other also.

That horse box trailer is new to me. Another nteresting connection.
