Three fresh cherries in 1:24 scale.....

Motor Max 1:24 scale "Fresh Cherries" diecast model kits of three 1974 notorious small American hatchback cars- the Pinto, the Gremlin and the Vega.

On four separate areas of their display box it is indicated that the trunk opens. This is not the case for my three hatchback models as their back panels are sealed. It would have been a real nice feature if that panel did, in fact, open. And I don't recall that MotorMax made any of these 1974 models with actual trunks other than the hatchbacks. Have to give MotorMax credit for coming out with images such as these based on the original 1:1s being unique and quirky.

The Chevy Vega came gray primered in the kit and was painted yellow; the other two were factory pre-painted as such.

Notable quotes from the liner notes:

    1974 Ford Pinto

"Although Ford sold thousands of Pintos, there aren't too many around anymore."

    1974 AMC Gremlin X

"American Motors offered the Gremlin X package as early as 1971, calling it 'The sharpest, sportiest group of features in one package.'"

    1974 Chevrolet Vega

"Another standard feature found on the Vega was front wheel disc brakes- a FIRST for any GM vehicle."

    Thanks for looking...

Nice job on those models, they look great.

Don't recall ever riding in any of those vehicles, except when I moved to Florida, my boss had an old Pinto wagon he let me use for and after work, the car ran great, and was nice to drive.

Another creative photographer in our midst. The very first and several other photos in the essay look like REAL vehicles. Nice work, Phil!

Great photos and great looking models. I borrowed a Gremlin from a friend one time when the Edsel needed brakes to see my girl friend. I knew her dad disliked Ford products but I can't repeat what he said about the Gremlin. Also made use of a rental Pinto wagon for a week or so as a business related car. Both were not bad rides.

Thanks Gentlemen for the compliments regarding the models and the pictures. In the process of photographing them, I am imagining them as 1:1 cars and want to make them look the best they can. And too, with the photos, the models are "magnified" on screen, making for an easier way to see the smaller details that my old eyes miss when they are in hand. LOL

I like how my Grem X has 5.0 Liter V8 on the back although it's the straight six in he engine bay......
