  • Pierce Quantum 75' Ladder Truck: What's the difference???

So if you're like me, you are probably stopped on the street a couple dozens times a day by people asking this question:

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2015 SPECIAL EDITION HEROIC RESCUE MAIL-IN PROMOTION MODEL AND THE NEWEST 2020 PIERCE QUANTUM LADDER?

First off, here's a link to a great article about the quite rare, and now fairly expensive Heroic Rescue models: https://lamleygroup.com/2015/08/11/t...in-exclusives/

The answer to the question though is a sad one as there is VERY LITTLE to differentiate the two. Besides the obvious date stamp and a slight variation in the size of the base rivets, the two models are indistinguishable.

My next question is whether the other Heroic Rescue models will find their way into the regular line-up soon too?

It’s funny that you just posted this about the Pierce Quantum Aerial Ladder Truck, as I just found one today at a local bargain / True value store. Unfortunately I never was able to purchase the first one🙁 I hope the other heroic rescue trucks do find their way in to the product line. I have the heroic rescue, but not the tower ladder.

Jim H thanks for the write up! There is a slight difference to them both though, that stripe on the rim, right above the front tire. The 2015 one a thinker white stripe, while the 2020 one is a thinner gray stripe. What do you think?

Gotta say no... especially if you're only looking at my not-so-great pictures. These models have the new digital style printing instead of the older tampo printing. On my Heroic Rescue model, the printing on the cab is very slightly too far forward and very slightly too high revealing more of the white cab underneath. The printing on the 2020 model is simply better positioned.

It is kind of a shame for those collectors who had gone out of their way to obtain the mail away, and I guess the only help for value would be if the collector kept it in the original package, as those are probably clearly different.

Oooooo, I hadn't thought about that. You might be on the right track!

BUT, I still don't know about the white vs. gray...

I have to disagree with your hopes here. Releasing this or any other Heroic Rescue model in to the regular RWR line up is a slap in the face and shows a lack of respect to the collectors who spent money and time to participate in the promotional program!

looking at both the original and the reissue that to have in my collection, I’m with Jim in it seems indistinguishable if there are any differences.

This model more then any other recent reissue probably shouldn’t have been done, but if they had to reuse the graphics there is no excuse for not changing the colors to make it easily able to tell the different.

I agree with you, Brian, about the lack of respect to collectors who participated. Even though I didn't, I do agree that they shouldn't of done that.

I'd have preferred another licensed livery for the debut of this casting under Working Rigs, or even a reissue of earlier, real liveries, like San Diego Fire-Rescue or San Bernalillo that it had before, that are now up there in price, but weren't special runs.

I've been really critical of all these reissues, but this, by far is probably the most egrigious example. I do have this one, but only because it was the premiere of this casting in the new RWR.
