    One thing I wish they'd use more of is castings that actually originated in the '80s. Nothing wrong with these, but it's just the way I'd prefer it. Or, at least, '80s liveries on newer toolings. Like, Hazard Squad in the Newfield Borough FIre Company livery of the old Mack squad or the E-350 or Terrastar in the blue/orange livery of the old Chevy ambulance tool.

      I'll definitely buy the 4runner, Crown Vic and hot rod for customs, and the square body looks good as-is

        All of those except the 4runner have gotten released in basic this year. Do you mean custom as in repaint it or just add details and put new wheels or something?

        If you're going to repaint them, the better route would be to buy the cheaper basics and do the customs...

          Detampos for the CV, weathering for the hot rod, repaint on the 4runner, detailing on the square body

            Cool! How to you detampo a vehicle?

              Depends on if I want a weathered effect or if I need to remove extensive/heavy tampos. Careful application of non-acetone nail polish remover, automotive brake fluid, or dry erase marker

                I've used hand sanitizer (back in the days when it wasn't priced like gold) with really good results.

                However, certain HW, especially premium issues cannot be detampoed due to a clear coat over the tampos and paint; and many have reported difficulty stripping--even stripping off all decoration (paint and tampo) with commercial paint strippers.

                  While these are nice looking - none of them jump out and grab me. I like your thinking Cody - would be neat to see the Hazard Squad with the the Newfield Borough lettering.

                      Each retro wave series should have at least 1 emergency vehicle in itπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

                        I just posted this in the other thread, since I hadn't noticed this one here, so just duplicating the post from there.

                        Nice to see a second wave of Retros coming out, thanks for the pic.
                        Let's see what is really retro in this set;
                        Well I don't think the Viper RT10 has been around in a long time, and the blue color with stripes goes way back to 2000.
                        Then the CV Taxi seems to be similar to the one from 2009.
                        The only other thing, but I can't seem to locate anything, is the graphics on the 4Runner seem so familiar, like some other model once had something similar, but maybe not.

                          I wish their "retro" series was more "retro" castings than the ones they chose, most of which have been available in the last 5 years or so. MBX has so many really nice cars from years back that they should be using.

                            Well, I can attest they are NOT out in Target stores yet. Just paid a visit to the nearest one today (had not seen this post until just now). Will check out the other tomorrow on my way to breakfast. Probably too early for any store to stock them, but I have occasionally found 'unreleased' diecast at local stores in the past, like the two new Superfast I picked up last week (posted a pic in another thread in this forum a few days back...)

                              Not a bad assortment at all. Great to see the 4-Runner make it's return, that is the one I'll be after the most.
