Seriously? I'll take your word for it, jedimario.

"Yeah, he will. 'Cuz he's too lazy to pull it outta the display box."

Those things can be opened only so many times, Officer...

For some reason, I suddenly want a little 1/64 figure.

If it isn't a NASCAR diecast, chances are, I won't get it.

Eh, no need to take my word for it, I decided to get a picture for everyone.

        • Let's change the subject, shall we?

Hey Officer, remember when this happened...

... and then while we were trying to get this shot...

... you got photo-bombed by your brother Bart and that other guy?

"Oh I remember, kid. I especially remember that other guy."

          Yeah, I thought you might.

"That was the day the special units for the Rogue Hog Squad were delivered. Bart was curious, and that other guy was a little jealous, I think. But kid, aren't you mixing the streams here? That hauler isn't even Mattel."

Had to use what worked, Officer. HW had nothing that would do the job.

"You should show the celebrity shots, too."

Maybe I'll do that tomorrow, Officer.

          • Sometimes, when you celebrate, a few celebrities show up.

From the chopper on the way in...

We had a couple of astronauts, and a guy in a blue suit who insisted we call him "Mr. Phelps". Dunno who the guy on the phone is.

"That guy in the weird costume seems to be wonderin' about the guy with the phone."

            And vice-versa, Officer.

"What about the guy with the binoculars?"

He bolted when the chopper touched down.

...but no, it's the purple version of the 2006 First Editions '69 Camaro Convertible.

The FE came in four colors: Red, "orange-red" (as seen here on 12/1/20), "metalflake black" and the color seen above; "metalflake purple". There were also chromed and black bases.

"All within the one '06 FE designation, kid?"

That's right, Officer. And the casting has been retooled. In 2015 it lost the "post-tab" body mount design (the grill is the tab), going with 2 posts (apparently) and a grill cast as part of the body.

"Didn't they ever do a blue one?"

Well, there was the 2007 HW Classics Series 3 in Spectraflame blue.

              "OooOOOoo! Sounds nice!"

Yes, and then there was the 2011 Hot Wheels Garage edition. That one came with RR5SP wheels. Then there was the 2012 Muscle Mania GM edition and the 2014 HW Workshop Heat Fleet edition. Their wheels were non-RR though.

"Easy choice, kid. Get the one with the RRs."

In the unlikely event that I happen to find it, it will come home, Officer. Oh, there was also the HW Roadsters edition for 2020...

"Let's not talk about 2020, kid."

This is the same casting that began this thread back on 9/23/19.

On a car, I like orange more than green, so it was nice to happen across this 2006 Mainline edition of the 2002 casting. Of note is the fact that Mattel skipped the HW treatment on this pony car. All wheels are the same size. Thanks, Mattel!

"Once in a while they get things right, kid."

Yes, Officer, they do. Once in a while.

                • <psst...does Bert know there's a really pretty blue Cougar?>
The image file limits have been reset. We have over-limit warnings for the past 3 months and I've had to lower the image file limits. Upper limits now are 100,000 when we have some images that exceed 5,000,000. I know I've mentioned many times before, but it is very important to downsize images - doesn't matter if they are hosted elsewhere or here. I've set the pixels for no more than 1000 across the longest side, so if you resize to that all should be well. (The new limits are larger than what I typically use, and my images turn out just fine, so I know it shouldn't be a problem)

                  Thank you for your understanding.

Poor guy64, Bert is going to yell at him for not getting that car.

                      ... at the same time.

Somebody at Mattel thought the two colors would look good on the Chaparral 2D. They don't look bad, that's fer sher.

                      "Blue never looks bad, kid."

Assuming we're talking car bodies, I agree, Officer. The chrome PR5s don't look bad, either. But neither choice seems as appropriate for the car as the choices made for the 2003 FE seen back on 12/31/19.

I suppose this scheme could be a veiled nod to Gulf Racing colors (although the blue on this Chappy is a bit dark for that). This version is listed on HW Wiki as a 2007 "Mystery Cars" edition, but the one Bert stands behind was found in the 2007 Main Line. The casting hasn't been issued all that much. Only five versions are listed on HW Wiki.

                        ... without Bert being photo-bombed.

"I think somebody told that guy in the cape that he was a little rude the last time, kid."

Or, he may have wanted his ride to get all the attention this time, Officer. I'm surprised he let you stay in frame.

... isn't the best edition of the 2006 casting.

We like taxis and all, but this hot rod taxi has one major flaw. Let's see if Bert can guess what it is.

"I know! 'What is really wrong with this car?' Right kid?"

Officer, this isn't JEOPARDY! It's the answer I'm looking for. (I had the question already.)

"Oh. Uh... well then, I'd like to buy a vowel."

This isn't Wheel of Fortune either. Here's a hint, Officer: It's two words, and the vowels you need are E and A.

"Can I call a detective on my lifeline, kid?"

No, Officer. I'd like to be a millionaire too, but ya gotta figure out this one yourself.

                            "Oh. Lessee then, um... uh..."

Another hint, Officer: The driver has to look through it to see where he's going.

"Oh, really? Hm. Well, I guess it's the... red glass?"

                            BINGO!

"YESSSS! I knew this was some kinda game..."
                            Bert sez...

I think the real flaw in this casting is the claim it operates as a “Taxi” with only two doors.

                              • Looks more like it is sponsored by a taxi company with the racing logos on the side. (Can't believe Bert missed that.)
