  • Maisto - Hometown USA

I posted this a small number of years ago on Swifty's so maybe you've seen it before, but there are probably a number of new members since the beginning of 2015, so thought I'd share it here too.

It is mostly an emergency vehicle related playset, which is what attracted me to it I guess.

Mega Masters was a brand using Maisto models, through the distributor called Megatoys.

This Mega Masters playset was available at KMart where I purchased it in late 1996, it may also have been available in years prior, but I didn't start collecting until early '96, so I don't know.

I paid $10.77 + tx at KMart, which is probably about the cost I'd have had to pay at the time for just the included models if sold as singles, but this also comes with all the play items, plus some paint schemes not offered as singles.

    Hope you enjoy.

I looked at that set many times in the store in its day. I never did buy one as the only model in the set I wanted was the ambulance - had almost all the other ones in the set and didn't want to buy it just for the one piece. And so - that particular ambulance/design remains on my search list.

I'd have bought that even having most of the vehicles already! The 'Emergency Services Center' alone would just about sell it to me.

It's only cardboard Blair, but nicely done nonetheless, but there were at least a few models that, as I understood it, only came in this and maybe another Maisto set of the time, the ambulance as mentioned, and I think the two Buicks, and possibly one or two of the non emergency models.
