  • Hello from Japan

Hi all, I go by the handle name Kingswood Baby. I post pictures of my 1/64 collection, albeit small, on Instagram under the name Kingswooddiecast. I'm a believer in true 1/64 and ordinary American cars. Here in Japan it is even rarer to see those 60s Galaxies, 80s Regals, or all those malaise era land yachts, than Camaros and Mustangs. Tax, fuel efficiency and narrow roads and parking lot are not allowing me to own one of them in real life, so I was like, why not enjoy the diecast models Auto World is my favorite brand, but I also collect GreenLight, Ertl American Muscle and Revell. Nice to meet you all

Welcome to the Garage, so glad you found your way over here!

LOL, if you like ordinary American cars, what are you doing in Japan? All kidding aside, I know there are some nice examples of ordinary as well as customized American cars in Japan.

Found you on Instagram. I am minicargeek on IG

So, I have to ask... are you Japanese, or an expat from somewhere else? What do you do in Japan? Sorry, I'm kinda nosey.
I collect what I like, and I like what I collect.

Haha, I'm Japanese and studying (soon to be working) here in Japan. Just followed you back on Instagram! Judging from the Japanese books and snacks you posted there, are we like opposite? I'm a big fan of American culture, not only cars but films, music, and hamburgers 😂 I assume you know we got big subculture of reverse-weaboos..

          LOL!

I'm German born, living in the USA since I was 3 years old. My wife is Japanese and I've only been there about 5 or 6 times (not enough). Her family lives in Kamakura and in Ise. I've work at a Toyota dealer in California for the past 35 years and have become addicted to Japanese cars. I don't think I'm a weeaboo, but my wife thinks I'm a baka otaku.

I collect what I like, and I like what I collect.

Wow, now I see why, you got a lot of connections with Japan! ...Baka otaku? So I guess you're wife's not helping you with importing TLVs to the states 😛 Haha. I assume you drive Japanese real ride as well!

My wife does help me on occasion, but I try not to bother her too much with requests. Her sister also helps out with some of the department store Tomica (Apita or Aeon). I actually get most of my cars through AmiAmi, Hobby Link Japan.

Since I work at a Toyota dealer, I do drive a 2014 Toyota (RAV4). I also have a 1977 Toyota Celica GT liftback. My wife works for Mazda North America and she currently drives a 2019 Mazda 6.

Anyhow, this is your thread, so enough about me!

I hope you enjoy your stay here at the Garage!
