That is an oldie Bug for sure. Way before they imported them into the United States. Hitler named it the "people's car".There were only 3 imported into the US in 1949 and had the split oval rear window. I used to work at a VW repair, sales and service dealership in the mid 70s and learned a great deal of the Bug. I bought a 1957 Beetle from them that was built to race with a Porsche engine in it. It was a cute little Beetle with a solid small oval rear window with a custom purple paint job. It also sounded like a huge Bumble Bee going down the drag strip. I later bought a nice 67 from them as a daily driver. The 67 was the fastest year made believe it or not. It had a 53 HP engine and was pretty quick from light to light. This is a great casting Patrick and thanks for sharing it with us!!!Comment
