this is a must have- not only for some vintage scenes, but it will be a show stopper if that Taxi car show/meet-up ever gets off the ground.

Great car. Was this made by Chevy?
Due to the recent budget cuts,
the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, plus the
current state of the economy, the light at the end
of the tunnel has been turned off.

Dan, Dan, Dan, it was made by Checker Motors, Kalamazoo, MI. This model dates from mid-1950's and was made into the early 80's. The later years did have Chevy engines. Google them. Tough as nails and tough on the eyes too.

I didn't know about the Rabbit but I know they were working on a Citation. GM would not commit to suppling bodies in the volume required.

As mentioned by Leroy the Checker was a true independent company based in Michigan. After they ceased auto production they still were a supplier of auto parts up till a few years back before ceasing operations entirely.

I forgot to mention in my post this is from The Hobby Shop Series #7 which was found this past weekend @ Meijers in Terre Haute, IN.
