Loved them Country squires for as long as they made them. I remember seeing my first one in a Ford Dealer showroom back in 1960 with my dad and grandpa. I couldn't figure how or why they made them from wood...LOL
I never disliked wagons, even if they have fallen out of favor with the general buying public in the USA. But I think the diecast industry was on to something a few years ago when the wagon craze began to explode. We wagon lovers didn't have to hide anymore and hang our heads in shame. This is what I say to those people: phooey!
I'm not a Ford guy (as anyone on here who knows me from Swifty's will tell you), but I had to get this model in both colors as soon as I saw them. You see, I AM a station wagon fan, and the Country Squire is THE stereotypical American Station Wagon, the car everyone thinks of when you say "station wagon", at least anyone who didn't have a particular favorite wagon in their past, like me and a '69 Chevy Kingswood Estate. And if AW comes out with it in more colors, I'll probably grab them too. They did a nice job on this model.
(Yes, we currently own a station wagon-esque car - my wife's daily driver is a Honda Crosstour hatchback with scads of room behind the back seat. It replaced an '06 Chevy Malibu Maxx hatchback sedan. She loves that type of car and, being a wagon fan, I'm happy to humor her.)
