  • Forgotten AWs????

You sure do not see much of these AW cars anymore. I still play with mine...

I never forgot that Skylark. It was a pegwarmer at Hobby Lobby, I ended up buying it out of pity and because the selection was poor that day....I assumed it was going to be cheap to replace, so I cut it up to make it a stock Skylark or Special, but these are difficult to find even on eBay these days.

I'm not sure why it wasn't re-released. Incidentally, is it some sort of modification of the similar Johnny Lightning Buick GS (1966, is it?)

It is a unique casting from Auto World. Not a modification of any pre-existing casting.

Love that ‘66 Skylark. I had one with the 275 Wildcat V8. Great car. Had the Chevelle look a full model year before Chevelle had it. Buick. I love ‘em.

Those are darn nice castings, Steve. Great work on the pictures too!!
Due to the recent budget cuts,
the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, plus the
current state of the economy, the light at the end
of the tunnel has been turned off.

These older "deluxe" castings (plastic base/plastic wheel/tires) were phased out since AW chose to focus on their premium line. Some of the toolings are going to be given new life in Johnny Lightning releases, from what Round 2 was showing some months back

Premium Line that's a joke. Most times it's marginal at best.
