  • 2013 Retro Entertainment Series '71 Plymouth Satellite "Brady Wagon"

i remember when this casting first came out, and all the talk on the old board about it. Now over 6 years later, it looks even better to me than it did in 2013.

Still not too pleased about the raked stance, rear wheel tubs intruding into the 3rd row seat, and Shaker hood scoop, but still a pretty decent 70s longroof, all things considered. Maybe Mattel will do another run of this casting in a semi-stock color scheme/tampo scheme like this someday.

I have this one, but would like HW to kinda do a redesign on it...
And get rid of Greg Brady and his bunch...LOL

All I ever hear is "Stangfreak, Stangfreak, Stankfreak" . . . maybe the upside of Cable and the Internet is having more variety than reruns ad nauseum of it. The only thing exciting about it were the cars! They shoulda done the '74 Caprice Classic convertible too!

Yeah, GCU 2.0, I completely agree with the raked stance of it being a bit off-putting. I bought one and put some plain jane wheels and tires on it.

As an aside, I am in the minority (I think) that prefers cars stock. When Hot Wheels does a car stock, it is often a home run, such as the Spock '64 Buick Riviera. So far, the best first gen Riviera ever done! I bought it for the Riviera not the Star Trek tribute. Leonard Nimoy was a gent and his taste showed in proudly owning this car. And the upcoming Japan Historics 3 look fantastic, with the Mazda Cosmo and the Nissan Silvia . . . both of these models are works of art partly due to the restraint in design.

Well that's why you're a senior member and I'm just a member (or just a senior?).

One of our beloved long lost family cars was a '73 Satellite Custom wagon in dark brown. I was very happy to see the Brady wagon made, but agree with you about the effect of the Hot Wheels mods. Still, the mods are a small price to pay for having a small scale model of this car. I bought an extra to drill down and customize into the stock model I remember riding in as a kid. That probably won't happen for 10 or 20 years... if at all. The MOC extra is more likely to be sold to another collector someday. We know not what the future holds.

When this came out I looked at it and thought - really does not make me think of the Brady Bunch station wagon - not with the stance and hood scoop. I like station wagons but this one was a big disappointment for what it was meant to represent. Not a big fan of the show but sure would have been nice to have had the stock wagon - maybe GL will offer us one down the road.
