  • IHC Mack C Plastic Fire Trucks

These realistic plastic Mack C pumpers and rear mounts were made by a company called IHC. They are actually very well made and all plastic😃 I added a Mack C satellite pumper👍

What I meant to say is that these are my IHC Mack (CF) Fire trucks🤭😯

These were decent little models back in the day, especially with a little work. I have a couple that where custom down for my dads train layout (which is in boxes in my basement) that where detailed a bit, amazing how a bit of paint and such could make these go from simple plastic hunks to eye catching pieces.

Neat idea with the satellite wagon.

Also the rigs are Mack CF models, not C models.

Not sure why I didn't pick some of these up in they day - not the greatest but yeah a little detail paint would add to these.

Where I grew up, Mack fire apparatus was the main distributor of fire trucks all over the place for many, many years. The FDNY had Mack fire apparatus for so long, I guess that’s why the volunteer departments close to New York also went with Mack fire apparatus. Now you see a lot of Ferrara, and Pierce fire apparatus. American Lafrance was also big around here, but those rigs didn’t hold up as well as the Mack apparatus. My favorite fire trucks now are Ferrara fire trucks. I really like their design👍😁

My dad made the Satellite pumper. He tried to create one close to an FDNY rig. It’s a cool looking kitbash😃 He actually made quite a few customs, however he collects the bigger sized models, like Code-3, Corgi, Matchbox super kings, Lionel size models👍😃

Kind of funny this topic came up, as over the last few weeks I have been doing a lot of HO scale layout planning, as I'm getting ready to recycle much of my dad's trains and build a layout with my kids. Anyway here is an IHC Mack Ladder I found in one of the boxes, he also had a couple of Mack CF pumpers finished similar.
Some of the detail parts were lost (maybe in the bottom of the box) such as the axe on the engineer's side, and some hook that where mounted on top of the body.

I know there were two CF pumpers, as well as some other Fire / Rescue equipment, including some kitbashes such as this Ford C (don't know who made it) mated with an IHC Mack Pumper body.

Wow, that’s a really cool looking Mack CF ladder truck custom Brian👍👍👍 Valley Stream fire department on Long Island had a Mack CF rear mount for many years that looked very similar to the one you show here😊

Here is another custom. American Lafrance extended cab, with the hose bed cover FDNY.

Brian - your dad's customs are nice. Thinking that Ford C cab might be from an old Revell HO truck kit. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for a train layout with these fire apparatus models

The IHC Macks were also issued as part of one of the Firefox HO railroad set by AHM(?) I have them also on Model Power cards. I first saw them in the Firefox train set, which I bought not knowing if the fire trucks would be sold separately ever. There were also two Dodge D-100 Squads in the train set...but cruder/simpler than the two Macks.

The AHM Dodges were very poor copies of the Hot Wheels Dodge Rescue.
